I write this sitting in Trattoria Il Nazionale, the intenet cafe/trattoria in Radicondoli. It must have the best view of any internet cafe in the world, and the staff warm and friendly. We passed quickly through Pisa on the way here, saw the tower all pristine and clean which surprised us. Our entry to the parking was blocked by rather menacing men who wanted to protect the car so we left and really just did a drive by for the boys, though Frances and I took the obligatory photos.

Next stop Lucca, which was beautiful. Phil and I rode around the city ramparts and saw beautiful gardens, lovely old buildings, horse drawn carriages etc.  I would be a lovely place to spend more time.

On the road again and on our way through beautiful Tuscan countryside to Radicondoli. We could see village after village sitting high on the hills, we saw swathes of red poppies on the roadside with other lovely wild flowers and sage green rolling hills.

The climb to Radicondoli was winding and quite long but oh so worth it.  Our accommodation is utterly stunning. Better even than we could have imagined. Beautiful old stone cottage set on the hill with a beautiful pool, patio and the most amazing view….. more to follow soon.
