This is truly the most idyllic place. Two friends had previously stayed in Radicondoli and their reports convinced us to stay here – how right we were to listen to them! Podere Colombaiolo, the Tuscan farmhouse we are in (Known as Bellavista in NZ)  has three apartments, all very well fitted out and authentic.  Ours is the Camelia apartment – we waken in the morning and open the shutters to the sound of birdsong and if its windy, the wind actually does rustle through the leaves of the big tree near our balcony.

Breakfast on the patio in the sun is a great way to start the day. This morning it was lovely and last night we had a bbq – old style, twigs and logs-gives such great flavour to the food.

Yesterday we went to Siena – its a truly amazing place, and we wandered leisurely through the maze of streets and sat in Il Campo with thousands of others for a huge lunch! The place seethes with tourists just like us, and we can all find something to marvel at. We didn’t venture into the Duomo because of the huge ticket line, but just seeing the renowned colours, and fabulous architecture,  plus being amongst the hustle and bustle was brilliant. Our time there reduced as we took nearly an hour to find a park, but in the end good old Rick Steves came to our rescue and we found the park we were searching for. Siena is so lovely it calls for more than a day visit… next time we will stay overnight.

Moving from town to town and back again provides the most amazing photo opportunies and the camera is bulging.
