The Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica and what a trio they are – my favourite part of the museum was the Pio Clementino collection of Greek and Roman statues – breathtaking for me as is the Sistine but with so many packed in there it was hard not to feel like a sardine – strictly no photos which officials tried to lamely enforce.

St Peter’s was my favourite of the three – huge, overwhelming even, with so much history, culture and art contained within – from the outside it is impressive too.

I was taken with the statues lining the rooftops

and the square is enormous!
