I have been waxing lyrical of late about France and Italy – both places have an indescribable appeal to me and I hanker for more. But as I wandered through beautiful Albert Park in my lunchtime today, it occurred to me that really, there is no place like home. I am in the enviable position of being able to sit and look out on Albert Park everyday, as my office in the University of Auckland Library, faces the Park directly opposite. I must truly remember not to take my beautiful hometown for granted. Auckland is a brilliant place to live, to work, to bring up family, to dine, to play and of course for tourists to visit. I don’t think I could top it – and this is one reason why that won’t change….
