Don’t let me loose in Manhattan Beach with $US in my pocket….

I had a bit a Michael Kors moment in Macys today – how could I resist? They were having a  promotion wherein, if you donated $5 to the March of the Dimes charity -(dear to my heart after Jett’s premature birth), you received 25% discount on your purchases, so I was able buy some coveted MK items.

It was power shopping to be sure – but the best thing about today was being in the sun and being warm – magic! Los Angeles turned on a beautiful day. The first part of the flight was pretty bumpy, but the second half was silky smooth and we managed to sleep. The new Tom Bradley airport is much more attractive and the self check kiosks certainly speed things up until you get to the final check to exit onto the street, where long queues build up.

Soon enough we were out in the sun and on our way to the Belamar, a stylish boutique hotel in Manhattan Beach – so well appointed too with Manhattan Beach Mall and The Point just across the road.  After refuelling at Peet’s Coffee and Macys shopping  accomplished, we returned to The Point for great Italian fare at North Italia – so delicious but oh so noisy.

The first day of being on holiday after the events leading up to it feels unreal, privileged and very special. Tomorrow we plan to enjoy the sun warming us to our bones again, before we head off for London, where the new chapter begins …
